The energy in eggs

I recently discovered the energy in eggs. I'm usually tired all the time, and have learned to live that way. I've always known the lack of energy is because of my chocoholism, bad diet and lack of exercise. Lately I started eating a banana at lunch which helps keep me sharp for the afternoon. This weekend I discovered the HUGE amount of energy in eggs. I ate two eggs for breakfast and was busy like a bee all day and night without feeling tired. I noticed there's a difference between regular eggs and Omega 3 eggs. The hens that lay Omega 3 eggs eat seeds that somehow contain fish oil. This makes the eggs have a slight fishy taste. Since I don't like seafood or fish products, I might have to throw out this batch of eggs and buy some regular ones.

Ten Amazing Java Applications

Java is such a great language and platform for any kind of application. It is open, fast, powerful, runs on any platform, and there are more jobs for Java than any other programming language. After reading more FUD and Java bashing from Ruby land I thought it would be fun to put together a list of truly amazing uses of Java that covers a wide spectrum.

NetBeans 6.1 Highlights

Now that the NetBeans IDE 6.0 is out, work has begun on version 6.1 (despite the roadmap showing 7.0 as the next version.) Version 6.1 is due for release by the end of April 2008 -- just in time for JavaOne. What's even better news is that the NetBeans team has released Patch 1 through the update center, and soon will release Patch 2. We no longer have to wait months or even a year to get bugs fixed. Now they are delivering bug fixes regularly while simultaneously working on the next release.

I read through the list of tickets for version 6.1 and think that this release will be as important as 6.0 because it brings many integrated features that mainstream Java developers expect in an IDE. Here is a list of highlights:

Ryco Technologies

After 9.25 years of employment at IJWS, I am officially laid off. January 2, 2008 was my first day working as a contractor for IJWS as Ryco Technologies (aka Ryco Tech). In the first year not much will change other than me moving into a Toronto condo in 3-6 months, and working from home. In the mean time I will continue to strengthen my skills in all areas of Java development, and will begin work on my ISO 900003-2004 Quality Assurance plan. I want Ryco Technologies to be known for high quality software by following industry standard engineering processes. I have been studying these processes over the last year, and have also learned what not to do from experience.

Eventually I'll begin work on one of several ideas I have for products and services. These are long term goals and I need to do more research before I decide on any of them. If I end up needing work, there will always be recruiting companies in the GTA to help me find contract jobs.

What do you think of the logo? I've had several designed for me by different artists and this is the one I like the most.
